FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we receive most often from potential clients.
What types of projects does SIL Business Services work on?
We work on projects that require the import of capital goods, machinery, industrial plants, or turnkey systems from Italy — structured through SACE guarantees or ECA-backed financing facilities. This includes agribusiness, food processing, manufacturing, renewable energy, aquaculture, poultry, healthcare equipment, infrastructure, and logistics projects across Africa.
What is the minimum project size you work with?
SACE and ECA-backed facilities are typically most cost-effective for transactions above USD 1 million, though there is no fixed minimum. We assess each project on its merits and advise on the most appropriate financing structure regardless of size. For smaller transactions, we may recommend alternative financing instruments.
How long does the SACE financing process take?
The timeline depends on the complexity of the transaction and the readiness of your documentation. A well-prepared transaction with complete documentation can achieve SACE approval in 3–6 months. More complex transactions or those requiring significant documentation preparation may take longer. We work to move transactions as efficiently as possible and will provide a realistic timeline assessment at the outset.
Do I need to identify an Italian supplier first?
No — that's part of what we do. If you have a project need but haven't yet identified an Italian supplier, we can match you with vetted manufacturers and technology providers from our network. If you already have a preferred supplier in mind, we can verify their SACE eligibility and proceed from there.
What documents will I need to provide?
The documents required depend on the transaction structure, but typically include: audited financial statements (last 2–3 years), a company profile or background document, project description and business case, details of the Italian supplier and contract terms, and any existing permits or approvals relevant to the project. We guide you through the full documentation process as part of our advisory service.
Does SIL Business Services work with government agencies?
Yes. We work with government agencies, ministries, state-owned enterprises, cooperatives, private companies, and individual project developers. SACE guarantees are particularly well-suited to public sector or government-backed transactions, which often benefit from sovereign or sub-sovereign risk classification.
What does SIL charge for its advisory services?
Our fee structures vary by service and transaction complexity. We typically charge a combination of an advisory retainer and a success fee linked to transaction close. We provide full transparency on fees at the outset of our engagement. Initial consultations are complimentary — contact us to get started.
Can SIL assist with projects outside Ghana?
Yes. While we are based in Accra, Ghana, our advisory services cover the broader West Africa region and the African continent. SACE financing is available for projects across Africa, and we have experience structuring transactions in multiple African markets. Contact us to discuss your specific country and project requirements.
